THE MAGIC FLUTE

The jacket and breeches I made which were from a design drawn by Kalina Konieczny inspired by the Opera, The Magic Flute. I designed and made all the decorative elements which can be seen on the costume.

The designs are based on an 18th century Egyptian silhouette, but they were specifically left undecorated to allow for my own interpretation. Having the colour palette as a cream cotton calico meant that I really had to use my initiative to create and form texture through embellishment techniques.

This project allowed me to develop and explore a number of different decorative techniques, which I very much enjoyed as it allowed me to create my own unique costume.
