1874 HORSEHAIR BUSTLE

I made this bustle from horsehair fabric which is machine stitched throughout. 
It has 5 layers of double box pleats which are attached to a base panel that creates the voluminious frills. 
This undergarment would have been worn with a corset and placed underneath a petticoat, fastening with waist ties.
